Q: How old do I need to be to hire a car in New Zealand?

 

A: You must be 21 or over.

 

Q: What documents do I need?

 

A:  You'll need a full driver’s licence from your home country. Note that this must be translated if it is not in English and in some cases, an International Drivers Licence will be needed instead.

 

Q: What kind of car will I be able to drive?


A: 
New Zealand drives on the left so most rental cars will be righthand drives. Both automatics and manual drives are available.

 

Q: What is required to secure the booking?

 

A:  A credit card is required to secure a booking and an amount will be taken as a security hold for the duration of the booking.

 

Q: Do I need to bring a child seat?

 

A: Children aged seven years old or under must travel in a suitable child car seat. These can usually be hired at the same time as the car.
